We are currently running a successful programme of Heartstart training to the general public which we would like to extend to the Tattenhall Business Alliance

The 3 hour workshop is run every month by the Tattenhall First Responders at The Studio in Bolesworth Road, Tattenhall and consists of the following programme:

Heartstart Training Saturdays 2.00 – 5.00 pm

The Heartstart scheme has been developed by the British Heart Foundation to provide free Emergency Life Support (ELS) training in the community and schools. They are aimed at the public and anyone from the age of ten upwards can attend and learn the complete range of ELS skills. To date 2.6 million people have been trained through Heartstart.

The Heartstart programme includes skills such as:

· · assessing an unconscious patient
· · performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
· · dealing with choking
· · dealing with serious bleeding
· · helping someone who may be having a heart attack.

Knowing what to do when someone has a cardiac arrests important. If you can do CPR you can buy the time needed for professional help to arrive and save the life of your loved one. Being able to do CPR more than doubles their chance of survival.
The Heartstart course is designed to follow the current Resuscitation Council(UK) guidelines.

The course lasts for three hours including a tea break and is delivered by a combination of DVD learning, discussion and practical “hands-on” training. This will involve kneeling and lying and rolling on the floor, so participants are advised to wear appropriate and comfortable clothing. Please also be prepared to work in socks or bare feet as The Studio operates a ‘no outdoor shoes’ policy

A certificate of attendance is given to each participant and the maximum number of people on any workshop is 12 to ensue that everyone is able to participate in the exercises.

Cost:This training is provided free of charge – however any donations to Tattenhall First Responders would be gratefully received

The next dates when we have available spaces are from June 2013 onwards.

Please contact Jill on 01829 771895 if you would like to discuss sending your employees or coming yourself to learn this valuable skill

This charity event will take place on Sunday 24TH March at The Barbour Institute, Tattenhall 11 – 4.00pm.

Local Nia Black Belt Jill Raine is organising the event which includes two Nia classes which have been co-created by the Tattenhall Nia Team drawing on the choreography from the routine ‘Passion’. ‘We have been working on these two routines since last September and have put hours into them to make sure we deliver the Nia promise of a good all round workout’ said Jill. ‘Teachers from as far afield as Newark and York will be coming to teach at the event which is a true co-creation’. Jill herself has realised a 40 year ambition to finally get to wear a Bay City Roller outfit which she has made specially for the School’s Out routine – she already has an Abba outfit for Disco Inferno – ‘You never know when these things like come in handy’

The first class 12 – 1 pm will be Disco Inferno – think Saturday Night Fever and Dancing Queen followed by the second class 2 – 3 pm which will be School’s Out – think 70’s school disco. Fancy dress is optional but highly recommended!

So dust off your flares and be prepared to Boogie on Down!!!

Nia is the original and most advanced form of fusion fitness which can help you to achieve greater strength, flexibility, agility, mobility and stability as well as helping you to improve your mental, emotional and spiritual health and well being. In each class we will be dancing to music you will recognise from the 70’s so singing along is compulsory. No experience is necessary – just follow the steps and do your best! It is suitable for everyone – all shapes, sizes and levels of fitness.

Cost is £8 for one class or £10 for both classes and includes coffee and cake or you can buy just a coffee and cake ticket for £2

There will also be a plant stall and a 50p sale of clothing, books and bric a brac. We will have refreshments for sale plus a tombola, raffle and cake stall.
Admission to the stalls is 50p or free if you already have a ticket for the event.
Doors open at 11am for the stalls

We are holding a preview event on Saturday 16th March 2 – 5pm at The Studio Tattenhall for people unable to come to the main event or for those wanting to learn the moves. We will go through both routines with a break in between for coffee and cake. Cost is £15 – all the proceeds will go to The Hospice of the Good Shepherd

Please call Jill on 01829 771895 to book your place for either event or for further details check out http://www.thestudiotattenhall.co.uk/

A company that develops and sells seaweed-based products from its base in landlocked Shropshire has praised a business coach who helped increase sales by a quarter.

Telford-based Sea-Chem says the “invaluable” guidance offered by Barnhill Marketing owner Jeff Hardman has been key to the 25% year-on-year revenue boost it is on course to achieve.

Sea-Chem’s products draw on the unique biological properties of native British seaweed species, transforming them into environmentally friendly solutions for a variety of domestic, commercial and industrial applications – from large-scale brownfield clean-up projects to horticulture, oven cleaning and septic tank care.

Sea-Chem’s Shropshire Seaweed brand brings together a range of organic gardening and outdoor products that harness the power of the versatile underwater plants.

David Ross, business development manager at Sea-Chem, said: “Barnhill’s clear and methodical approach allowed us to break down our then myriad sales activities into manageable units for analysis.

“As a result we are now actively developing products and services that had been previously underexploited.”

Former international sales director Jeff Hardman founded Barnhill Marketing in 1999. The company works predominantly with UK-based SMEs ranging in turnover from £500,000 to £50m, with an emphasis on manufacturing and industrial firms.

Barnhill visited Sea-Chem in 2011 when acting as a consultant on the Business Link Coaching for High Growth programme.

Following the consultation, Sea-Chem refined its sales and marketing strategy but also overhauled its online presence by re-launching its websites.

Sea-Chem, which recently relocated from Claverley to Hortonwood, is now shipping its wares to mainland Europe, Canada, Australia and the US. It is even supplying liquid seaweed to the Azerbaijan Football Association.

Hardman said: “It’s extremely rewarding to know that Sea-Chem is doing so well. It’s a fantastic company that deserves every success.”

Jeff Hardman, founder and owner of Cheshire-based Barnhill Marketing, has been appointed to the coaching panel of the GrowthAccelerator scheme, launched by business secretary Vince Cable in May.

GrowthAccelerator will support up to 26,000 companies with potential for rapid and sustainable growth, creating 55,000 high-value jobs in the process. Experts will work with companies to identify barriers to growth and ways to overcome them.

Funded by the Department for Business Innovations and Skills (BIS), GrowthAccelerator is being delivered by private sector experts from a consortium led by Grant Thornton.

Jeff, who gained more than 20 years’ industry experience with multinational companies before launching Barnhill in 1999, will be coaching managing directors and management teams after linking up with Winning Pitch – one of eight local delivery partners on the project.

Jeff said: “It is an honour to be able to use my years of experience coaching managing directors and senior executives to help the growth creators of tomorrow.

“GrowthAccelerator is a fantastic project to be involved in, and I’m sure the businesses taking part will get plenty out of it.

“Thanks to the scheme I’m already working with a global chemicals distributor based in Stockport and a rapidly expanding construction company in Manchester, with a view to improving their management systems and business development skills.

“Programmes such as this really demonstrate the power of partnership working between government and the private sector.”

Broxton-based Barnhill Marketing deals with a range of clients, from micro-businesses to corporates.

The company works predominantly with UK-based SMEs ranging in turnover from £500,000 to £50m, with an emphasis on manufacturing and industrial firms.

Current clients include Manchester-based Cleansing Services Group (CSG), Beta Group based in Bacup, East Lancashire and Jackson Fire & Security in Mold, North Wales.

Jeff, a committee member on the Cheshire branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD), has several years’ experience coaching managing directors and business owners.

He has acted as a consultant on several funded projects, such as the Business Link Coaching for High Growth programme in 2011 and, since 2006, the Welsh Government’s pan-Wales International Trade Development programme.

As well as offering advice on doing business in overseas markets, Jeff deals with all aspects of personal development regarding leadership and management skills – as well as wider issues relating to business improvement.

Prior to launching Barnhill he gained experience in sales and marketing, working at director level both in the UK and internationally for major manufacturing companies including Solvay Interox and Norwest Holst.

As exports area manager for US-based steel products manufacturer H H Robertson, he was responsible for selling to the overseas specification market in London and managing the company’s Saudi Arabia sales office in Riyadh.

For more information on GrowthAccelerator, and to find out if your business could be eligible for support, visit www.growthaccelerator.com.
